Week 10 Weigh in. A statistical analysis so far

At the 2 ½ month mark I thought I would do some number crunching…  According to the World Health Organisation and the Australian Government I still have a few centimetres and Kilograms to go before I am out of the danger zone of being a prime candidate for developing chronic diseases such as cariovascular disease and diabetes etc. I need to lose another 8kg before I enter the healthy weight range with regards to the BMI (Body Mass Index) I currently sit at 28.1. As you can see from the BMI scale below, there is still a fair amount of work to do. It’s interesting because when I tell people my goal weight they say “don’t you think that’s a bit skinny?” but in actual fact it will fall in the upper third percentile of the normal weight range, so really it’s not skinny, it’s necessary and healthy…
BMI scale
·         Underweight = <18.5
·         Normal weight = 18.5–24.9 (I want to be here 23.1)
·         Overweight = 25–29.9 (I am here at 28.1)
·         Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater (I used to be here at 32.8)- holy crap, now wonder why I felt dreadful…
In addition, I need to lose another 6cm from my waist in order to be considered at a lower risk of developing the chronic diseases previously mentioned, which mind you are linked to diet in a lot of cases. Women need to have a measurement of 80cm or less and Men 94cm or less in order to fall within the healthy range.  The waist measurement is thought to be more accurate than the BMI, as it can measure more accurately the fat that surrounds your vital organs (which is very bad…) Apparently there is a direct link between belly fat and nasty organ fat.
Ok, the thought of being so far away from being healthy is quite painful and somewhat annoying as it just illustrates how bloody fat I was and still am. On the flipside I am almost half way there (I only need to lose ½ kg to reach my ½ way mark of 12.5kg, I was hoping to be there this week, but it wasn’t meant to be.  I am trying to be positive here in order to keep on going. To finish off for the week I thought I would give you in numbers the total loss so far, it sounds so much better that way particularly the total cm… I have lost 12kg and a total of 43cm to date...
