Week 6 energy intake

Before I start with the weeks energy intake, you should probably know about my energy output. At present I am walking, because it's all I can be bothered doing at the moment. My aim is to walk every day, but like most of you, things get busy so I don't stress if it doesn't happen as I know I will walk the next day. But that doesn't always pan out either, however on the third day I make sure I make time no excuses...

Saturday 5th Feb, 2011

(B) Yoghurt, fruit and LSA
(L) Smith's chips 2/3 of a large packet
(D) 3 sausages, potato salad and salad (Been craving sausages, I don't know why?)

Snacks
1 coffee
8 glasses of bubbles/wine (over a 10 hour period)

Week 5 weigh in "I'm still at a loss"

Good morning everyone, well it’s weigh in day again and gee how fast does it roll around? A 1kg loss this week is still good despite a nasty peanut blow out. I thought I was over that particular food obsession, in fact I think I ate equivalent to 2 days’ worth of energy in that episode. It only takes a small handful (I have large hands) to reach a few thousand kilojoules (not that I am counting)… I tried to remember that “the first one tastes as good as the last” piece of advice, but I just couldn’t stop they were so scrumptious. To make matters worse I was at someone else’s house, which made me think I should really share these peanuts with the people who own them, sorry Shane and Lez, but I guess they are better off being on my arse than yours, you have to look on the bright side of things J. Well, here is to next week, hopefully a week without peanuts.

Week 4 weigh in "old habits die hard"

Well it’s been 4 weeks since I have started the blog; it’s kind of hard to believe that I have been doing it for this long. They say it takes a month to break a habit and I was just commenting to Alan yesterday that I seem to be in the swing of choosing healthier options, (most of the time). Hmmm so maybe the wives tale habit thingy is true! or partly at least. Mind you I have blowouts, particularly on celebratory occasions but the good thing is I don’t stress about it and just pick up where I left off as soon as I can. None the less 6kgs in 4 weeks isn’t too shabby! You know, I have been wondering this week if I would have lost the same amount of weight if I wasn’t doing the blog? I know, no point wondering because I will never know. Anyway the blog appears to be a good thing…
I’m not sure how many of you read the comment underneath the Alicia Silverstone entry, but the gist of it was that we decided to do 5kg weight loss increments with rewards (yes I am motivated by rewards pathetic I know). Well if your maths or memory serves you well? I have hit my first target so a lovely glossy book here I come. I can’t wait for the 25kg reward, now that’s a real motivator…
A snap shot so far…

Week 3 weigh in

So sorry this is late, I had to leave early this morning...
Ok this is my third week and I am fairly happy with my progress, although I wish I could just take a pill and be done with it…  (I’m not being ungrateful; I am just expressing a ludicrous notion out loud). This leads me to a thought that has been plaguing me for weeks. You know it’s a pretty screwed up world in which we live, as part of the world’s population is obese and there is a multimillion probably billion dollar market to cater for it, yet an even larger portion of the world’s population will not eat today and yet I am worried about eating too much today! Gee how did I get it so wrong? This is such a confronting subject that I’ve wanted to post for a while, but I was afraid that people would be turned off and not come back and check in, but I had to say it, so sorry. It’s my Tourette’s syndrome breaking through, but I edited the swearing!
Ok, back to the superficial aspect of things, this week’s progress is as follows:-

Thank you beautiful people

I just want to say a big THANK YOU, as over the last week I have been receiving texts, emails, facebook messages, comments and chats that encourage me to keep on going. I am really grateful for these words and I am also encouraged and inspired by other people and their own weight loss success.

So once again, thanks for sharing this journey with me...

Thanks again xoxo

xoxo Alex

What the...

Well I'm not sure what is going on? It's almost like I am not wanting to lose weight, as I seem to be eating and want to eat everything in my sight and unfortunately my sights are not on celery sticks.

Week 2 weigh in "it could be worse!"

I am looking on the bright side of things… If you have been reading what I have been eating you will no doubt gather that it’s not a surprise that I have regressed by half a kg and a few centimetres. But like I said in the heading “it could be worse”, lucky for those walks otherwise it would have been disastrous. Note to self “get back on track and don’t go out to lunch with friends or husband”.
It’s interesting, because one week I had a problem with peanuts and this week it was biscuits, I wonder what next weeks is going to be, celery sticks? I hope so…
Just for reference I am listing below the progress overall, however to the right it's the comparison between starting stats and current stats.

Week 2 energy intake

Saturday 8th Jan, 2011

(B) Cottage cheese and salad
(L) Beef Rogan Josh with vegies
(D) Moroccan egg salad with char grilled vegetables

Water melon and cherries
4 coffees

1/2 hour walk

First weigh in

Ok the first results are in, see info on right.

There were some suprising results, despite a couple of hiccups (uncontrollable moments) I experienced during the week. You know my mum once said, "the first bite tastes as good as the last" translate that to only have one bite or one piece! Easier said than done I know... "check out my pizza disaster, not a proud moment". The first/last bite idea is definitely something I need to work on...

The last couple of days I've been rambling to Alan telling him how my belly feels smaller and he would look at me and say REALLY? and I am like YEH... I guess the proof is in the pudding...

I lost 8cm off my waist and 7.5cm off my hips. When I first took the measurements this morning I had to do them twice as it seemed quite substantial, I also tried to remember if I had been drinking when I did the original stats?

Just to finish, a weight loss of 3.5kg is more than I could ever had hoped for, this is just what I need to start the week on the right foot...

The time is nigh...

OK, Tomorrows results will reveal to everyone how I have been going with my mission to shed those pesky kilos. I really do hope that something has shifted?

For the record, I feel really good even if nothing has shifted, I know at the very least that I have done my body a massive favour.

If you have been reading my food intake you would know that it's fairly reasonable, except for the devon sandwiches, which seemed to have replaced the PEANUTS, however, if I had written down what I had been eating for the past few months you would of needed an ECG machine on hand...

Just to recap, tomorrow after 10am I will post:-

My weight (hopefully a little less)
All measurements
And an embarrasing picture (the hardest part about this whole challenge)

Here's to nothing or everything...

See you tomorrow :)

Hump day

Well it's Tuesday, day 4 of my challenge or halfway to my first weigh in (hence hump day) "don't forget to check out the results" I will be posting them this Saturday". It does seem though that my progress may be sabotaged by bloody peanuts...

peanut, peanuts, peanuts you terrible beautiful yummy little things...

You know it kind of reminds me of taste buds, for something so small they can rule your whole existence... or is it lack of will power? hmmm not sure? but I prefer the former thought...

Anyway, tonight we are going to a friends for dinner, so I must not have any peanut blowouts today. Fact: did you know that 50g of peanuts have over 1200kj? That's a lot of exercise...

Therefore, I decided to start the day with an omlette, which to Alan's annoyance looked better than his bowl of weetbix. It wouldn't be hard to looked better than what looks to me as compressed cardboard,  even the dog food looks more appetising! Because my omlette was so yummy, I thought I would publish the recipe, just in case you want to enjoy a nutritious low carb breakkie.
